'The Ultimate Beauty Matchmaker' Places in New Venture Competition

PORTSMOUTH, VA, April 14, 2010 /Direct Marketing PR News/ -- My Salon Scoop, LLC won the second place prize at the New Venture Competition at the 36th Annual Whitney M. Young, Jr. Memorial Conference in Philadelphia, PA. The competition, sponsored by the African-American MBA Association at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, provides entrepreneurs of African descent the opportunity to win investment capital for early stage/start-up companies.
"The competition was a great opportunity to share and get feedback on my vision for My Salon Scoop," said V. Woods, CEO and Founder of My Salon Scoop. "The financial assistance will help us continue to make enhancements to the Web site and develop new services to help hairstylists that cater to African-American women clients."
Over 30 applicants, including The Wharton School alum Woods, entered the competition this year. The selection committee chose three finalists amongst the top full business plan submissions to present their pitches to a distinguished panel of judges at the conference.
