XPO Hires Director To Enhance International Parcel Business

As today's economy slows, XPO continues its overall strong growth curve and expansion with the hiring of industry veteran Alison Layfield to lead their International Parcel business.

TORRANCE, CA, January 30, 2009 /Direct Marketing PR News/ -- XPO, a leading provider of international and domestic mailing services, announced today that it has hired Alison Layfield as Director of Product Development. Layfield will lead one of XPO's largest segments, International Parcels. Strategically located in Eastern Canada, she will be supporting many of XPO's key customers.

"International Parcels are a major part of our core business. Alison Layfield is a pioneer in this field, with a history of creating customized parcel solutions while streamlining operations," said Kelly Herold-Martinez, CEO of XPO. "Since we pride ourselves on inventing solutions for our customers, this is a great fit. We have both been in the industry for years and have worked together before, so I know first hand that our customers will benefit from her efforts. Her location provides great strategic connections as Canada is the largest international market for parcels for US companies."

Layfield's mail industry career started almost 20 years ago at a lettershop in 1989. She then worked seven years for TNT Mailfast, opening the Canadian facility and held the position of General Manager for the Windsor, Ontario and Detroit branches. In 1998, Layfield co-founded Parcelogic Canada which was first purchased by Quick International Courier then sold again to Deutsche Post, AG in 2000. In the seven years she worked for Deutsche Post, now known in the industry as DHL GlobalMail, she held the positions of Product Management International Parcels, General Manager and Canadian Industry Specialist, working with many of the largest international postal customers. Layfield specialized in creating customized solutions to ship into Canada and other international destinations. The systems utilize a unique process for each customer using electronic data to process outbound parcels, clear customs and handle return exports smoothly.

"I've devoted many years to streamlining the parcel process. I believe in customized solutions for each customer which is part of the foundation of XPO," said Layfield. "I am passionate about the business and will aid XPO's explosive growth of international parcels."

Layfield resides on the east coast of Canada in Windsor, Ontario.
